| ITV France (Institut Techinque du Vin) has been a technical Center for applied research since 1948. Its
main mission is the elaboration of reliable technical references from a national program, within the seven
studied topics: viticulture agronomy, vineyard protection, winemaking and viticulture equipments, improved winemaking technology, microbiology and hygiene, environment and food safety. ITV headquarter is in Paris, and a large network of experimental stations is covering the whole France territory and the most important wine regions: 7 regional stations (Alsace, Aquitaine, Bourgogne, Champagne, Midi-Pyrenées, Rhône-Méditerranée, Val de Loire), 2 attached commission, 12 units, 2 innovation transfer poles (Angers, Narbonne). The global technical permanent staff is composed of more of 50 people.
ITV France activity is mainly the implementation and the transfer of new technologies and practices to
wine industry, and therefore very strong links have been set up with many commercial wineries and with
scientific research organisms. These links with the research are set on different levels, but a key role is
played by the ITV Scientific Committee, composed by external scientists with multi-disciplinary expertises,
which evaluates the projects during their development and suggest new research tracks. INRA plays a very important part into this committee.
ITV France is part of several national and international organizations (OIV, ONIVINS, INAO, ENTAV, ACTA ...). |
